Australia's Knife Specialists | Knowledgeable Advice, No Hassle Customer Service & the Best After Sales Support
OTTER® knives/pocket knives are made in Solingen, Germany, using traditional knifemaking techniques. Meticulous German hand-craftmanship, sharpening and finishing goes into each model for a dependable, long-lasting knife.
The OTTER® company was founded around 1840 at a traditional grinder's watermill in Solingen by the Berns brothers, the name and logo coming from the otters of the region. In 2011 Frank Rommel took over the company and is leading the traditional manufactory into a new era. The OTTER product range includes hunting knives, household knives, as well as models for florists and enthusiasts, and all bear witness to the robust quality of the quality of knives made in Solingen, Germany.
Large Hippekniep folding knife with carbon steel blade and smoked oak handle and lanyard hole. Boxed. See carbon steel care notes below.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Carbon Steel Blade Care:
Carbon steel knives require extra care to prevent rusting and oxidation of the surface. Knives should not be placed in a dishwasher or allowed to soak in a sink. After use clean the blade with a damp sponge or cloth and dry thoroughly. You could also apply a light coating of vegetable oil to the blade’s surface. Use steel wool to remove signs of rust and then apply some oil to the blade. To keep the blade razor sharp, use a honing, or sharpening, steel. After some use, the carbon steel blade will develop a patina, a darkening which is desirable and an indication of its age.
