Camphor Laurel is naturally antibacterial due to the natural oils in the timber, and is considered a very effective food preparation surface with regard to reducing microbial growth. Wood cutting boards are kinder to your your knives and won’t dull them like ceramic or glass cutting boards. Camphor Laurel is completely biodegradable and renewable.
To wash your board, use warm water and little soap, and leave to dry. The board is initially coated with Grapeseed Oil - when the timber starts to look dull, reoil with Grapeseed Oil or a foodsafe mineral oil or board cream. Grapeseed oil is preferred over vegetable oils as many other vegetable oils can become rancid in the wood after time.
DO NOT soak, or put in the dishwasher - the board will deteriorate quickly. If your board starts to feel furry, simply use a 240 or 400 grit sandpaper to give it a quick sand, dry and reoil.
